Lip Tint Tattooing
What is a lip tint tattoo?
A lip tint tattoo is a soft wash of colour of a similar tone to your natural lips but with a little more POP! All you have to do after is add a little gloss then GO! The lip tint tattoo technique does not create a lip liner look, instead, the colour blends seamlessly across the whole lip with no start or finish around your lip liner area. If you want a stronger liner we can book you in for a lipstick effect tattoo.
The effects are smudge proof and waterproof, and can last 1-5 years depending on how soft you want it to look. Clients that pick a very subtle colour change will require yearly colour boosts.
How will my lips look straight after?
The pigment colour fades up to 50% so you will leave the salon with a lip that looks like you have bright lipstick on. Your lips may also be swollen from the procedure (no extra charge), although this will normally subside after 24 hours.
Do I need a touchup for lips?
About 20% of clients require touch ups, this can be because of a cold sore outbreak, or if you have dark lips to begin with. Clients with a darker lip must come in store for a consultation at least 1 week prior to see if tattooing is an option for you. Unfortunately, not all dark lips can be tattooed and some lips will go even darker brown after tattooing due to the amount of natural melanin in their lips. Dark lips may also need 3 sittings to get the desired results.
How far apart are my treatments and what will I look like in between?
We cannot do the 2nd treatment until your skin has completely healed as we do not want to do any damage to your skin, so we book our clients 6 to 8 weeks apart depending on age.
Lip tints change colour over that time but after the peeling they will look soft and natural.
How long until they heal?
Healing is around 10 days, however, this can vary depending on how hydrated your skin is and how well you follow the aftercare routine. Your lips will begin scabbing around day 2-3 which normally only lasts a day or two, so please be aware of this when making your booking. Clients that do not follow the correct aftercare may require more touch up appointments and will be charged at an hourly rate of $200.00.
Does this hurt?
For lip tint tattoos your lips will be completely numb before the procedure starts. Under new government law you are required to purchase your own numbing cream as we can no longer purchase on your behalf. Our compounding chemist sends numbing cream straight to the salon so it will be there waiting for you. Most people find this quite painless and we can keep giving you numbing cream when needed.
How do you pick a colour?
For the most natural lip tint it is good to pick a colour close to your own lip colour and keep it in the peach/pink tones. If you find you want your lips nothing like your natural colour, you will want a lipstick effect tattoo. This is done exactly the same way as the tint, only in a stronger colour with a lip line.
