Ombré Brows – The Brow Bar

What is an ombré brow?

An ombré brow is a soft and misty powder filled brow – similar to the look of a brow filled in with brow powder makeup. With the ombré technique, the tails of the brows will be darker and fade into a softer look towards the front of the brow, giving your healed brow a very subtle look. This is by far the most natural looking brow you can ask for and Victoria’s personal favourite.

This procedure will not cause any scar tissue damage as unlike microblading, there is no cutting of the skin. The effects are smudge proof and waterproof and last longer than microblading, with an average lifespan of two years (clients that choose a soft looking ombré will require a yearly colour boost).

How will my brow look straight after?

Victoria will need to build up your colour on the first treatment as colour fades up to 50% – so you will leave the salon with a much bolder brow to compensate for the fading. Straight after the treatment, your skin can be a little pink and slightly swollen, although this will subside and is not too noticeable.

Why do I need a touch up?

Everyone’s skin reacts differently to pigment. Some clients’ skin grabs pigment and others reject it, so on the first treatment, we always dilute the colour for a soft and healed brow. During the touch-up appointment, we can add more pigment if needed and fill in any of the brow that did not hold as well.

How far apart are my treatments and what will I look like in between?

We cannot do the second treatment until your skin has completely healed, as we do not want to do any damage to your skin. Because of this, we book our clients 6 to 8 weeks apart depending on age. In between treatments, your brows will still look beautiful. They may not be as dark as you like or may have some very small patchy areas, but you can apply your favourite BROW BAR Brow Gel or powder over the top once they have healed to fill in any sparse areas.

How long until they heal?

Healing takes around 10 days. This can vary depending on how hydrated your skin is and how well you follow the aftercare routine. Your brows will start scabbing around day 3-5 and can scab for a few days, so please be aware of this when making your booking. Clients that do not follow the correct aftercare may require more touch up appointments.

Does it hurt?

Ombré brows do not hurt like microblading as there is no cutting of the skin and the work is done on the surface. Most people find the process quite painless but there is a topical anesthetic gel that we can organise for you from a compounding pharmacy if you would like some on hand.

How do you pick a colour?

Victoria works with four different pigment lines, so with over 30 colours in total, she will always be able to match the perfect colour for you.

How do I know if this procedure is good for me?

The best thing about the ombré brow is that is works well on all skin!

Two weeks prior:

The better your skin, the better the brow will heal. Hydration is KEY. Two weeks prior, we would like you to start drinking a minimum of two litres of water per day. While you shower, do a VERY light exfoliation of your brows, and after your shower while you watch TV,  place a hot cloth compress on your brows for 20 minutes. After you have done this, apply a small amount of olive oil to your brows overnight. Please stop using any anti-ageing products on your brows from now on, so no microdermabrasion, peels, laser, anti wrinkle injections or facials.

One week prior:

No blood thinners like Ibuprofen, aspirin, niacin, vitamin E, B6, omega 3, Ginko Biloba, St. John’s wort or evening primrose unless medically necessary. No waxing, tanning, brow tinting or brow henna.

24 hours prior:

No exercise, coffee or alcohol.
